You will want a thorough bibliography for your final essay.
Use the following generator to help build a proper MLA Works Cited/Referenced.  Once you get the hang of how to cite different sources (books, articles, films, emails, etc.), try to build your own.  Be sure to put things in alphabetical order!
Make sure that this is ready to attach to the end of your essay!

Sick/Change of Schedule

Good morning, students.
I woke today with no voice.  I'll be coming in anyway to hand out the paragraph worksheet and the Work Cited worksheet.  We will be inserting the paragraphs in class, so be prepared to do it Monday, for the whole period.  You can work on your Works Cited/Bibliography over the weekend, so all you'll have to do for your final paper is staple the sheet to the back of the finished essay.
Best,
Novella Brooks de Vita

Class Paper (sample essay)

Here is the essay that the class has begun to write, combining an independent thesis with text/film/etc presented in class:

Far From the Tree: Exploitation in the Modern Food Industry in Ursula K. LeGuin’s “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” and Tarsem’s The Fall
Food is essential for human life. In times of war and times of peace, in times of mourning and times of joy, people need food. What if one could no longer trust that the food one eats is safe? What if the food on one’s plate is grown by people who do not make enough money to maintain a decent standard of living? Behind the majority of the food on one’s plate is an industry that exploits its workers and produces food that is not safe. This essay will focus on destructive practices used in industrialized food production and the consumer practice of looking the other way in Ursula K. LeGuin’s “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” and Tarsem’s The Fall.
These practices are often accepted, ignored or reconciled not only by corporations, but also by consumers. One sees this in action in LeGuin’s “Omelas.”  This particular society depends on the suffering of a child in a dark cellar so that its utopian society can thrive.  Every citizen at some point of his or her life is made aware of the suffering child, and therefore must find a way to deal with that knowledge.  Some seek the comfort of reconciliation for their own sake, acknowledging the child's suffering but ignoring it at the same time because they find comfort in their lifestyle and fear its destruction, for "they know that if the wretched one were not there snivelling in the dark, the other one, the flute-player, could make no joyful music" (LeGuin 588).

Research

I would like you to use tomorrow (NO CLASS: use this time for independent research!) and this weekend to research the murder of Trayvon Martin so that you are prepared for class discussion Monday. You should look at and listen to the links supplied in this blog and search for additional material to inform your perspective. What is your take? What happened? Why? How could it happen? What does it mean? Make sure that you have established your potential course of action in the city of Omelas (http://iweb.tntech.edu/jcbaker/The%20Ones%20Who%20Walked%20Away%20from%20Omelas.pdf). After seeing the child, what would you do? Would you go back to life as usual? Would you leave the city? Would you leave the child in the cellar, or would you intervene? As a citizen of the town, what decision would you really make, and why? What similarities are there for you between the story of Omelas and this murder? Be ready to share and explain your opinion. Back it with material you feel supports your stance.
